About The Position

We are seeking a friendly and energetic Phlebotomist/Processor with excellent people skills to enhance our team. Ideal candidates will have a collaborative spirit and a commitment to supporting both our patients and our team’s goals. This role involves administrative duties such as providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms. Technical responsibilities include performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening. Accurate data management is crucial, involving verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information. Specimen handling includes receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity. Compliance with safety protocols, HIPAA policies, and Medicare rules is essential, as is participation in quality assurance. The role also requires flexibility in covering work shifts at different sites as needed and maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior hands-on experience in phlebotomy and/or pre-analytical specimen processing required
  • Ability to pass a standardized color vision test required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn laboratory information systems
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet turnaround time expectations
  • Dependability, adaptability, and willingness to support evolving laboratory needs
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality, and confidentiality
  • Work is performed in a clinical laboratory environment. Duties may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a workbench, working on a computer, and repetitive hand motions. Physical requirements may include lifting up to 15 pounds, bending, reaching, and occasional stress related to turnaround time pressures.
  • This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
