About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Phlebotomist PRN to join their Laboratory team in Nashville, Tennessee. The Phlebotomist PRN is responsible for the systematic collection of blood and urine specimens for patients and their delivery to the appropriate laboratory section.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
Ability to perform phlebotomy on all age groups
Ability to obtain quality and usable samples
Ability to verify patient ID using two identifiers
Ability to handle all specimens in accordance with Universal Precautions
Ability to actively participate and support co-workers
Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude
Ability to work with students and other interested persons
Ability to demonstrate flexibility when workload requires changing workflow priorities or schedule
Ability to look for ways to improve processes
Ability to participate in Continuing Education activities
Ability to take problem-solving initiative
Ability to take a pro-active approach to learning new procedures
Ability to continuously improve phlebotomy skills
Ability to manage inventory, time, and workflow efficiently

Responsibilities

Perform phlebotomy on all age groups, consistently obtaining quality and usable samples.
