About The Position

The Mobile or Fixed site Coordinator is responsible for daily on-site management of an assigned Mobile Unit or Lifeline collection activities in addition to phlebotomist duties. This role functions in a leadership capacity, coordinating, operating, and evaluating blood drives with the Manager of Donor Services and the Director of Donor Services. The position also provides back-up support for screening and phlebotomy procedures, assists, coaches, and monitors staff for compliance, and acts as a role model by adhering to all policies. The coordinator verifies the completion of all required daily tasks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Minimum of two years of phlebotomy experience required, preferably in a blood collection or donor services setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer service skills required, with the ability to maintain a high standard of donor care.
  • Language skills must include the ability to read, write, speak English effectively and follow oral and written instructions consistent with policies and procedure, SOPs or other requirements.
  • Documentation accuracy required
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to function as a key team member in a high-level production environment coupled with strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to make simple decisions based on well-defined choices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the staff and the public to enhance LIFELINE’s relationship with the community.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • LPN, EMT, paramedic, or other advanced medical training/certification preferred.
  • CPR (recommended) and First Aid

Responsibilities

  • Functions in a leadership role coordinating, operating and evaluating blood drives with the Manager of Donor Services and the Director of Donor Services
  • Provides back up support for screening and phlebotomy procedures as needed
  • Assists, coaches and monitors staff for compliance
  • Supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the organizations
  • Acts as a role model for staff by adhering to all policies
  • Verifies the completion of all required daily tasks
  • Performs donor registration process and mini-physical
  • Performs donor interview and evaluates suitability of donor for donation based on current Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) criteria
  • Performs blood collection procedures according to SOPs, including Quality Control, skin preparation, phlebotomy, obtaining tube samples and removing needles
  • Attends to donor’s comfort and safety post donation, including those having reactions or complications to the procedure and notifying the Collection Supervisor
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information regarding donors
  • Labels all blood collection materials according to SOP
  • Cares for blood after collection, including segmenting, providing temporary storage, and transportation to the center when necessary
  • Assists in unloading, assembling, maintain, dismantling and reloading of equipment and supplies (if applicable)
  • Completes all required documentation
  • Complies with Lifeline safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service when dealing with donors, members of the community and co-workers
  • Communicates staff needs and mobile/truck needs with the appropriate staff.
  • Communicates well with Donor Service Manager to help maintain the best working environment for all staff members
