About The Position

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is hiring a Full-Time Lab Associate II – Phlebotomy (O'Fallon, MO). This is an experienced phlebotomist position. The role involves performing venipunctures and urine collections, utilizing multiple Laboratory Information Systems, and ensuring high-quality patient care and customer service. The position is located at BJC Medical Group at Progress West (O'Fallon, MO) with Day Shift Hours from 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM, with no weekends or holidays. The role purpose is to perform specimen collection, specimen handling, and clerical duties. Experienced phlebotomists will also be proficient in performing additional tasks such as central processing duties, in-office phlebotomy, or inventory management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years or more of relevant experience
• Minimum of 2 years of professional phlebotomy experience
• Expertise in blood draws & specimen collection
• Excellent patient interaction and communication skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Phlebotomy certification

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree
• 2-5 years of experience
• Experience in one of the below areas: Phlebotomist, Lab Technician, Lab Associate, Laboratory, Blood draw
• Experience in central processing duties, in-office phlebotomy, or inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician orders and order tests in appropriate system.
• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity. May work in outpatient lab, in physician office, or off campus patient service center.
• Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory and proficiently handle all specimens received in the lab.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
