About The Position

One Medical is seeking a Float Phlebotomist/Front Desk Assistant (internally called Lab Services Specialist/ Member Support Specialist) to provide an exceptional patient experience. In this role, you will be responsible for venipuncture, other clinical support services, and front desk duties. You will act as an ambassador for patients, removing barriers to care and ensuring the office environment reflects the One Medical brand. As the first point of contact, you will also provide support as directed by Practice Coordinators, Operations Managers, or providers. This position supports multiple offices within a market and requires strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills. You will combine excellent specimen collection techniques with tactful interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, focus, and compassion in all interactions. A self-aware individual who thrives in a feedback-oriented and growth-focused culture, and is adaptable to patient and team needs, will be successful in this role. Requirements

  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer technology such as typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care.
  • A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Use C-I-CARE framework in all patient interactions, clinical and administrative, ensuring a positive in-office experience through patient intake, schedule management, follow-up scheduling, billing/insurance knowledge, patient feedback monitoring, and outreach assistance.
  • Provide venipuncture services for a diverse patient population (pediatrics to geriatrics).
  • Perform and assist with extended scope duties including non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
  • Assist with member care beyond the lab room by answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and supporting providers and virtual medical teams with clerical duties such as biometric screening forms, medical record/consult review, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
  • Perform all front of house duties including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, printing/paperwork tasks, prepping tests, and tasking to service level expectations.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, team huddles, problem-solving, and supporting in-office providers with ad hoc requests.
  • Perform opening and closing duties and daily office upkeep, including maintaining the appearance of patient and employee spaces, restocking supplies, and organization.
  • Master the technology suite including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, and the Electronic Medical Record System for team interaction and daily tasks.
