About The Position

The Certified Lab Phlebotomist - Hospital performs venipuncture and skin puncture in the hospital setting. Demonstrates excellent communication and patient care skills.

Requirements

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) (NHA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) (NHCO) - National Healthcare Certification Organization (NHCO)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technologist (CPT) - National Phlebotomy Association (NPA)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) (ACA) - American Certification Agency for Healthcare Professionals (ACA)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) (ASPT) - American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • 6 months phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of routine and complex blood drawing procedures including but not limited to venipuncture, finger and heel sticks, and blood cultures.
  • Ensure quality by verifying patient identification and specimen labeling.
  • Maintains appropriate response times to stat and timed orders.
  • Serves as part of the trauma and code teams.
  • Performs essential job functions of Lab Phlebotomy ndash; Hospital position.
  • Certified Phlebotomists must pass a national certification exam after completion of a nationally certified phlebotomy training program or after working as a phlebotomist full-time for one year.
  • Obtain and maintain national phlebotomy certification, PBT(ASCP) or equivalent.
