About The Position

The Phlebotomist / Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing patient-centered care and administrative support within a busy fertility clinic environment. This role includes performing blood draws for patients undergoing fertility investigations and treatment, supporting clinic operations through scheduling and patient coordination, and assisting the nursing team with daily administrative tasks. The successful candidate will ensure patient safety, maintain specimen integrity, and provide professional and compassionate service to patients and staff. This is a part-time position based at our Oakville clinic, with scheduled hours Monday to Friday from 7:00am–12:00pm.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Office Administration, Biology, or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in a clinic, laboratory, or healthcare environment considered an asset
  • Experience with electronic medical records and scheduling systems is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy procedures for patients undergoing fertility investigations and treatment.
  • Ensure proper patient identification using two unique identifiers and accurately label all specimens.
  • Receive, process, and prepare specimens for testing and transport to external laboratories.
  • Check in patients and assist with patient flow within the clinic.
  • Book and confirm patient appointments using clinic scheduling systems.
  • Fax requisitions, reports, and other clinic documentation as required.
  • Support the nursing team with administrative and clerical tasks.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely data entry into clinic systems.
  • Ensure all technical procedures are performed according to clinic and laboratory protocols.
  • Communicate any specimen concerns, abnormal findings, or operational issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and notify leadership of shortages.
  • Ensure laboratory and clinical equipment is used according to protocols and report any malfunctions promptly.
  • Participate in clinic safety and quality assurance programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy legislation and clinic policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
