About The Position

One Medical is seeking motivated individuals to launch their healthcare career as a Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant Trainee - Float, internally known as a Lab Services Specialist/ Member Support Specialist Trainee. No phlebotomy/medical assistant experience is required, as full training in phlebotomy and other clinical procedures will be provided. The trainee will provide exceptional care and support for patients, train to provide venipuncture and other clinical support services, and remove barriers to care. They will also serve as the first point of contact for patients, manage the office space, and provide support as requested by leadership. Flex Lab Services Specialists/Member Support Specialist Trainees support multiple offices within a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in high-touch customer or patient-facing roles.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer technology such as typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (additional experience with remote teams is a plus).
  • A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust with patients while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care.
  • A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Use C-I-CARE framework in all patient interactions to ensure a fluid and positive in-office experience through patient intake, same-day schedule management, appropriate follow-up scheduling, strong knowledge of billing and insurance, monitoring patient feedback, and assisting with outreach.
  • Perform all front-of-house duties including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, printing/paperwork tasks, prepping tests, and tasking to service level expectations.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, attending team huddles, participating in team problem-solving, and supporting in-office providers with ad hoc requests.
  • Master the technology suite including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, and the Electronic Medical Record System 1Life for team and patient interactions and daily work completion.
  • Perform opening and closing duties and daily office upkeep, including maintaining the appearance of patient and employee spaces, restocking supplies, and organization.
  • Successfully complete One Medical clinical training and state-required education and/or certifications within the first six months of employment (One Medical sponsored).
  • Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire based on guidelines within a specific metropolitan statistical area (One Medical sponsored).
  • Upon successful completion of training and certifications, responsibilities will scale to the Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist role, including providing venipuncture services, performing extended scope duties (e.g., non-blood specimen collection, EKGs, vitals, vaccines, swabs), maintaining in-office care standards, answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting providers with clerical duties.
