About The Position

Provide in-person instruction to students at NIACC's Charles City and/or Forest City regional center. The schedule may include day or evening classes. Adjunct instructors are independently responsible for the effective delivery of course instruction and the facilitation of student learning and success.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Philosophy, Theology, Humanities or closely related field with a minimum of 12 credit hours in graduate-level courses in Philosophy.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous collegiate teaching experience, including demonstrated effectiveness in student engagement, curriculum development, and assessment of learning outcomes with a commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction in the content area, aligning with course competencies, syllabi, and college policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate, record, and report attendance; assess student performance and provide regular, constructive feedback.
  • Be regularly available to meet with students (in person and online) as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, and faculty; communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Perform work according to assigned schedule; classes may include day or evening hours.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills, demonstrate reliability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
  • Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and respect for others when working with all NIACC departments, employees, students, partners, and the public.
