About The Position

The Philanthropy Manager plays a key role in advancing the mission of Novant Health Foundation by helping develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy. This position focuses on building and sustaining a strong major gift pipeline through meaningful donor relationships, strategic solicitation, and stewardship efforts within an assigned market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Five (5) years of major gift and/or planned giving experience required
  • Proven success soliciting and closing major gifts of $25,000 or more
  • Planned giving knowledge and experience highly desirable
  • Donor-centered fundraising approach with strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and trust with donors, leadership, and colleagues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; polished and persuasive communicator
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management abilities
  • Self-starter who is results-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • High level of professionalism and discretion; ability to handle confidential information
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and respectful collaboration
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising databases
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Passion for philanthropy and alignment with the mission and goals of Novant Health

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare fundraising experience preferred
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of the Foundation's comprehensive fundraising plan, including major gift initiatives, campaigns, and planned giving
  • Build, manage, and grow a major gift pipeline by actively cultivating and soliciting donors with annual giving capacity of $25,000 or more
  • Secure gifts of $25,000 or greater in support of assigned programs and priorities
  • Manage a portfolio of at least 75 active prospects and donors, including individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Qualify prospective donors for inclusion in the major gift pipeline to ensure sustainable philanthropic support
  • Partner with Foundation leadership, clinical leaders, and volunteers to align donor interests with organizational priorities
  • Serve as a Foundation liaison to an assigned medical center and/or manage specific Foundation programs or projects as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of donor activity in the Foundation's development database
