About The Position

The Philanthropy Manager leads fundraising and development activities to manage all aspects of a comprehensive development program, including special campaigns, major gifts, endowment development, institution (donor) grants and foundation events. Primary Responsibilities: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Foundation, effectuates the Office of Philanthropy’s strategic plan, revenue goals, and operational efficiencies, ensuring engagement and prioritization with staff, the community, UMMS system, academic partners, private sector partners, local government, and UM Capital Region Health and Foundation Boards of Directors. Identify donors, cultivate relationships, and solicit charitable gifts of $10,000 or more from a portfolio of local and regional primary prospects focused on fulfilling UM Capital Region Health’s funding priorities. Achieve individually assigned annual revenue targets for designated campaigns, appeals, and sponsored events. Implement best practices in prospect research and manage data-entry in Raiser’s Edge, maintaining accurate records of donor interactions and donations. Implement best practices in donor stewardship by promptly acknowledging and receipting donors for philanthropic contributions as well as maintaining regular communication. Adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrates empathetic disposition, perseverance, reflects an optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity to the needs of the donors and the business needs of UM Capital Region Health. Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to ensure creative development and execution of corporate, foundation, and major gifts program marketing and communications requirements. Collaborate with the community health team to ensure tracking, analysis, and management of corporate, foundation, and major gifts strategies focused on achieving community health annual funding goals. Perform work on-site in UM Capital Region Health’s Office of Philanthropy at a minimum of 4 days per week (Monday through Thursday, 8am to 5pm). Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field with relevant demonstrated work experience and skill in partnership building, research, and writing
  • Three years of experience in non-profit leadership, community advocacy, strategy & fund development and planning, along with demonstrated successful experience in resource mobilization, fundraising program development and execution in a hospital, academic medical center, or another health-related non-profit
  • Experience with a health-related organization, including experience in organizational planning, financial management, communications/marketing, and program development.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events

  • Experience with social media and communicating with internal and external audiences preferred
