About The Position

The Philanthropy Associate supports the organization’s fundraising and stewardship efforts by managing donor relations, coordinating campaigns and events, and executing philanthropic initiatives. This role is crucial in maintaining donor engagement, ensuring accurate recordkeeping, and smoothly carrying out development activities to further the organization's mission. The Philanthropy Associate collaborates with the Foundation Board of Directors, Collington Leadership Team, residents, Kendal’s Philanthropy Team, and community partners throughout the Greater Maryland/Washington, DC Metro Area. The position reports directly to the Director of Philanthropy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in fundraising, donor management, or philanthropy within a nonprofit environment (experience with aging services preferred).
  • Proven track record in annual and planned giving program development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with donor management software (Donor ব্যবস্থাপক Perfect preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of philanthropy across Collington.
  • Interact effectively with donors, both internal and external.
  • Support the development of the Foundation Board, advisors, and volunteers.
  • Engage in outreach initiatives that enhance the lives of Collington residents and older adults in the region.
  • Maintain current knowledge of ethical standards and industry best practices.
  • Handle confidential materials with the highest degree of professionalism.
  • Partner with the Director of Philanthropy to execute a strategic fundraising plan and promote a culture of philanthropy across Collington.
  • Cultivate, steward, and recognize donors through annual giving, family engagement, and planned giving programs.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling fundraising materials across print, web, media, and events.
  • Plan internal community events that foster commitment to the Foundation’s mission.
  • Support the development of the Foundation Board, advisors, and other volunteers.
  • Advise the Development Committee with the Annual Fund Drive, family engagement, and planned giving initiatives.
  • Guide the Awards Committee in executing annual grant-making for scholarships and community projects.
  • Contribute to annual budget planning processes.
  • Enter donation records and produce gift acknowledgements.
  • Conduct donor research and prepare reports for leadership.
  • Analyze fundraising data and trends to inform strategy.
  • Model and promote Collington’s core values of service to the community.
  • Embrace a donor-centric, ethical, and collaborative approach to philanthropy.
  • Build and maintain trust with donors and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with team members, residents, and volunteers to advance organizational goals.
