About The Position

The Philanthropic Impact Advisor (PIA) role builds and strengthens long-term relationships with key donors, prospects, and fund advisors on behalf of California Community Foundation (CCF). The PIA will lead one-on-one consultations, advise on best practices in philanthropic giving, and connect donors to aligned CCF initiatives to enhance their overall donor experience. This role combines frontline fundraising with project management: The PIA will manage a dynamic portfolio, advance multiple priorities simultaneously, and deliver high-quality, solutions-oriented client service. Success in this role requires proactively identifying both isolated and systemic issues affecting the donor journey and partnering across teams to implement effective, sustainable improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Only applicants who reside in California and submit a cover letter will be considered.
  • Proficient with the internet and highly skilled in Microsoft Office; familiar with database systems.

Nice To Haves

  • advanced degree and/or relevant sales or fundraising experience preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in fundraising, donor or alumni relations, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in major gift solicitation, including strategy development for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high-level donors.
  • Strong knowledge of grantmaking processes and the nonprofit community in Los Angeles County.
  • Experience with client management (CRM) databases preferred, with readiness to learn new databases, spreadsheets, and related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively and systematically builds and deepens long-term relationships with an assigned portfolio of donors, prospects, and fund advisors.
  • Advises donors in developing a giving philosophy and plan by helping shape a meaningful vision and sharing best practices in philanthropy.
  • Accountable for meeting individual targets that contribute to CCF’s annual fundraising goals.
  • Serves as a key member of cross-functional teams to grow legacy, discretionary, and aligned giving from CCF fundholders, donors, and prospects.
  • Clearly and passionately communicates the trends, challenges, and solutions outlined in the foundation’s Strategic Framework.
  • Understands and can clearly explain laws and regulations governing charitable grantmaking, including those related to donor-advised funds, scholarship funds, and supporting organizations.
