About The Position

Central Carolina Community College is seeking two faculty or staff members to serve as Co-Advisors for the College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society chapter. Working collaboratively, the Co-Advisors will provide leadership, mentorship, and administrative oversight to ensure a vibrant, active chapter that promotes scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. Together, the advisors will support student leaders, coordinate chapter activities, ensure compliance with Phi Theta Kappa International requirements, and create meaningful opportunities for student engagement and leadership development. This is an internal posting open to all CCCC employees (full-time, part-time and adjunct).

Requirements

  • Full-time faculty or staff member at Central Carolina Community College.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success, leadership development, and student engagement.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise students and represent the College during off-campus activities and travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience advising student organizations or mentoring student leaders.
  • Familiarity with Phi Theta Kappa programs and opportunities.
  • Experience coordinating events, budgets, or student programming.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary advisors for the College’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter.
  • Recruit, mentor, and support chapter officers and members.
  • Coordinate officer elections, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Plan and facilitate regular chapter meetings and officer meetings.
  • Guide the planning and implementation of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship activities consistent with Phi Theta Kappa’s mission.
  • Coordinate membership recruitment, invitations, and new member induction ceremonies.
  • Ensure the chapter remains in good standing with Phi Theta Kappa International by completing required reports, maintaining chapter records, meeting deadlines, and complying with all organizational requirements.
  • Assist students in pursuing Phi Theta Kappa scholarships, transfer opportunities, leadership programs, competitive awards, and other student success initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Engagement, and other College departments to promote Phi Theta Kappa and increase student participation.
  • Manage chapter budgets and expenditures in accordance with College policies.
  • Coordinate conferences, leadership experiences, recognition events, service projects, recruitment activities, and other chapter programming.
  • Promote the chapter through campus communications, recruitment efforts, and student outreach.
  • Maintain effective communication with Phi Theta Kappa International, the regional organization, and College leadership.
  • Encourage a learning environment where everyone is supported and valued for their unique perspectives and experiences and will foster and promote the participation of all members of our diverse communities.
