About the Role: As a Research Intern – Generative Video at Dolby, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting edge generative video models. With the guidance of Dolby’s leading media technology experts, you will be solving a real-world generative video problem aiming to create advanced consumer experiences in multimedia entertainment. This opportunity will be based out of our research offices in Sunnyvale, California.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a doctorate program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Completed at least one year of doctoral program.
  • Background and experience in generative video models, specifically in diffusion models.
  • Solid technical skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Curiosity for how and why things work as they do.
  • Passion for video, generative model, or visual language model technology.
  • Desire to bring in new ideas and open to learning from others.
  • PhD students in Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience as a researcher, including internships, full-time, or at a lab.
  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be available to work full-time Monday – Friday for 12 weeks between September 2026 – December 2026.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in creating demos and prototypes for research applications.
  • Experience in developing innovative solutions for generative video.
  • Experience in writing technical reports and/or publications.
  • First-author publications at peer-reviewed conferences or journals.

Responsibilities

  • Work on cutting edge generative video models.
  • Solve a real-world generative video problem aiming to create advanced consumer experiences in multimedia entertainment.
  • Pursue new areas of video processing, diffusion model and generative AI and demonstrate results through projects, prototypes, patent filings, and papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Create demos and prototypes for research applications.
  • Develop innovative solutions for generative video.
  • Write technical reports and/or publications.

Benefits

  • The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $62/hr and can vary if outside of this location.
  • Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
