About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician role involves compounding sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical preparations under the supervision of a compounding pharmacist. Responsibilities include data entry, prescription processing, and assisting laboratory technicians with compounding and fulfillment. This position reports to the department team lead.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be licensed by the State you are applying to work in as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • Ability to navigate basic computer operating systems.
  • At least 3 years of pharmacy experience.
  • Must be able to work full time immediately upon hire.
  • Proficient in using a computer and related equipment, including printers and fax machines.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Effective communication skills via telephone and email.
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.
  • 20/20 vision (with or without corrective aids) required for visual inspection of drug products, in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of and adherence to applicable Standard Operating Procedures and state laws and regulations.
  • Work under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers, greeting and assisting them in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Check prescriptions for completeness and enter necessary information into the computer to generate prescription labels and invoices.
  • Fill and label prescriptions, and prepackage bulk medications and various types of medication and ancillary kits.
  • Communicate with prescribers to receive refill authorization.
  • Receive patient refills by telephone, direct calls, or take and relay messages.
  • Assist the team lead with the organization and appearance of the pharmacy front-end, including ordering and pricing front-end merchandise.
  • Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding, which may include capsules, oral liquids, topical medications, nasal preparations, suppositories, troches, tablet triturates, lollipops, and sterile compounded products.
  • Investigate and document incidents and/or variances, including their resolution.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the department team lead.
