About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians support the company’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health by providing compassionate service to patients and customers. The role involves managing assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks so the team can fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately while meeting medication needs and regulatory compliance standards. Technicians are expected to maintain patient confidentiality, conduct themselves ethically, and comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

New Pharmacy Technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy’s training program and satisfy state-specific registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Duties may initially be restricted by a manager until these requirements are met. Technicians can then continue developing clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training. The position is part-time, with 15 anticipated weekly hours. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required. Licensure requirements vary by state.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Licensure requirements vary by state.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks for a period of time without being distracted.
• Customer service orientation, including proactively helping people in a friendly manner, recognizing customer reactions, and responding appropriately.
• Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues; active listening skills.
• Mathematical reasoning, such as calculating a prescription’s day supply.
• Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing when something is wrong or likely to go wrong and choosing an appropriate course of action.
• Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including standing and moving about for sustained periods, finger dexterity, reaching, bending and stooping, spoken communication and hearing, close visual acuity, and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• PTCB National Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support the prompt, safe, and accurate filling of patient prescriptions.
• Help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met.
• Provide caring service to patients and customers that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate ethical conduct.
• Complete CVS Pharmacy’s Pharmacy Technician Training Program if new to the role.
• Meet applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
