About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist in accomplishing the technical components of the pharmacy business which will include, but not limited to: measuring, mixing, counting, labeling, recording amounts and dosages of medications. When appropriate or as needed, the Technician may be asked to perform the duties of a Data Entry Pharmacy Technician.

Requirements

  • Must complete annual HIPPA training
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be legally able to work in the United States
  • Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy Technician Permit without disciplinary restrictions
  • Experience with pharmacy computer software
  • Must complete required Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy training according to the standards of the board
  • Must complete any other job-related training that may occur
  • Technician must abide by all state and federal laws regarding the appropriate labeling and dispensing of prescription medications
  • Ability to work agreed upon schedule
  • Must be punctual and dependable for assigned shifts

Responsibilities

  • Answering incoming phone calls
  • Data Entry
  • Receive and store incoming inventory or supplies, verify quantities against invoices, reporting any discrepancies immediately to the pharmacist.
  • Inform Pharmacist or supervisor of stock needs and shortages
  • Accurately fill bottles / bubble cards or Medicine On Time containers with prescribed medications and affix labels
  • Assist Pharmacist with the accurate record keeping of CDS inventory
  • Prepackage and label unit-dose packaging of medications
  • Take verbal authorizations from prescriber’s office for refill of non-controlled prescriptions with no changes to strength or directions
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately to pharmacy staff of any needs
  • Assists with record maintenance according to state, federal and company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
