About The Position

Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has been providing compassionate care to the children, teenagers, and young adults of Central Florida for over 30 years. Located on the downtown Orlando campus, it features 156 licensed beds for specialized pediatric care, the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, and serves as the pediatric site for the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center. The hospital offers state-of-the-art pediatric services with a comprehensive staff, including pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team recognized for excellence. Arnold Palmer Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to assist with operational and all distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions, including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
Current Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate (CPht) received through a nationally recognized program (e.g., Pharmacy Technician Certification Board – PTCB, Institute of Pharmacy Technicians – ICPT) is required.
Maintenance of current certification is required.
Greater than four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician

Responsibilities

Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
Demonstrates the ability to identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations, and policy and procedures.
Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
Performs the basic buyer procedures including drug procurement required by the department and consistent with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to the medication distribution including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g. chemotherapy) and functionally performing tasks / procedures associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
Responsible for maintaining controlled substance vault and perpetual inventory and other documentation files depending on the needs of the department.
Responsible for special project completion as assigned.
Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians if needed.
Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g. medication history acquisition-controlled substance inventory management).
