About The Position

The Dispensing Pharmacy Technician is responsible for data entry of prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system and fulfillment under the direction of the Pharmacist and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company, the state’s pharmacy regulations, and other regulatory entities. The Dispensing Pharmacy Technician assists Pharmacist(s) in assuring that prescribed medication(s) and supplies are prepared and dispensed as directed by Physician’s orders and shipped in the most efficient manner and/or to patient’s requirements. The focus will be on oral Bundled Medication but will also be expected to be cross-trained and able to work in the confines of the Renal Nutritional department. This role involves training and participation in all administrative areas required as a pharmacy technician, including entering data into Newleaf and/or any other pharmacy-specific software, counting and dispensing oral medications, accurately entering new prescriptions and compounding instructions, processing refills, processing formula changes, creating delivery tickets and compounding worksheets, processing new patient starts, and completing assigned tasks. The technician will perform appropriate calculations when required, maintain patient profiles, enter progress notes, attach documents and enter lab values into Newleaf software, answer phone calls and handle/triage appropriately, and perform quality checks of daily patient orders, boxes, bins and delivery tickets. They will also work with the warehouse to complete a final review of shipments and communicate effectively through email with both internal and external customers. Responsibilities include appropriately capturing patient notes and articulation of company policies and practices to clinics, clinicians, patients and vendors, entering QREs into Incident Tracker, and using appropriate resources to effectively solve problems. Additionally, the role requires participation in cleaning activities in the cleanroom, anteroom, and workroom per company policies, cleaning and maintaining equipment according to USP 797 guidelines and Florida State Board of Pharmacy regulations, participating in sanitizing products and stocking the cleanroom, successfully completing media fill testing annually and as required, and successfully completing all didactic training and process validations, including those for compounding sterile preparations using approved aseptic technique. Compliance with all state and federal regulations, company policies, and HIPAA and privacy policies is mandatory. The technician will participate in routine check of expiration dates and quarterly inventory, collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and provide high quality patient care, participate in team building activities and maintain a positive work environment, and maintain professionalism at all times. The bundle room must be kept neat and orderly at all times, free of food, drink, and clutter. Any and all other essential job functions as assigned will also be performed.

Requirements

  • Current, valid Pharmacy Technician license issued by the State of Florida.
  • Ability to pass a drug, background screen and be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
