About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician assists licensed pharmacists by accurately and efficiently providing medications and other healthcare products to patients. The role includes preparing prescriptions by counting tablets, labeling bottles, and stocking products; providing customer service; using computer systems to maintain patient profiles and insurance claims; and checking out patients. The position also supports the financial interests of the store and completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
State-appropriate registration or certification.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Suggestive selling and knowledge of products.
Attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

One year of prior customer service-oriented pharmacy-related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Stock and take inventory of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
Notify the Pharmacy Manager when supplies or products need to be ordered.
Receive prescriptions and refill requests from patients.
Retrieve, count, pour, weigh, package, and label products.
Maintain customer profiles and prepare insurance forms.
Operate the cash register accurately, display purchase costs, make change, cash checks, and issue receipts.
Maintain familiarity with products carried in the department.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
Follow HIPAA requirements and applicable legal policies and procedures.
Perform tasks delegated by the pharmacist on duty, except final prescription verification and medication counseling.
Complete other duties as assigned, including additional responsibilities as needed.
