Pharmacy Technician - Bilingual English/Spanish
About The Position
We are seeking a professional, responsible Pharmacy Technician to support closed door pharmacy operations in Draper-Utah in a highly regulated compounding pharmacy environment. This role requires strict adherence to pharmacy laws, safety standards, and internal procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, attention to detail, and respect for regulatory requirements governing pharmacy practice, conveys information via telephone in English or Spanish to patients with poise and empathy, is detail-oriented, respectful of confidentiality and comfortable working in a compliance-driven setting. This position works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and must comply with Utah Board of Pharmacy regulations and applicable USP standards.
Requirements
- Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Utah
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and regulatory requirements
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Professional demeanor and reliability
- 1-3 years of experience in retail, mail order or compounding pharmacy
- Able to lift boxes 30 to 40 lbs. and assist with restocking supplies
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
Nice To Haves
- Sterile Compounding pharmacy experience (and non-sterile)
- Knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, and <800>
- PTCB certification
Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile and/or non-sterile and compounded medications under direct pharmacist supervision.
- Follow all pharmacy laws, regulations, and internal SOPs
- Maintain accurate documentation required for regulatory compliance
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of medications
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the pharmacy
- Use required PPE and always follow safety protocols
- Support inventory management and controlled substance procedures
- Participate in required training and competency assessments
- Answer incoming calls and assist patients with prescription-related inquiries
- Contact patients to obtain or clarify information needed for prescription processing
- Perform only duties permitted under state pharmacy law
- Never compound, dispense, or release medication without pharmacist authorization
- Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
- Immediately report errors, deviations, or safety concerns
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and ethical behavior
