Requirements

  • One year of experience assisting a licensed pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications in a pharmacy; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Active authorization to practice as a Pharmacy Technician in Pennsylvania.
  • If you possess an active temporary registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee, you must obtain registration as a Pharmacy Technician within the two (2) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission of criminal history reports (conditional offer).
  • Pass a background investigation (conditional offer).
  • Medical examination (conditional offer).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications according to practitioner orders for pharmacist review and delivery
  • Apply understanding of dosages, administration rules, and dosage forms to process stock orders and related documentation
  • Process medication records and patient profiles using pharmacist-reviewed parameters to support reports and reviews
  • Interpret pharmaceutical terms, measuring systems, abbreviations, and symbols to ensure accurate dispensing and charting
  • Prepare requisitions, enter information, manage credits or destruction, and restock supplies to maintain secure inventory
  • Assist in manufacturing, packaging, and labeling medications according to designated procedures
