About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician provides exceptional customer service and supports patient health and wellness services as permitted by state and federal law. The role helps maintain a safe, clean, inclusive environment and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

The technician supports pharmacy operations by assisting the pharmacist, processing prescriptions, handling inventory and orders, completing billing and register transactions, and responding to customer inquiries. The position requires compliance with applicable regulations, company procedures, and HIPAA requirements, as well as cooperative and ethical conduct when serving customers and supporting the community.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to handle highly confidential information.
• Meets minimum state requirements to perform the functions related to the position.

• Any previous comparable experience.
• Equivalent experience as a pharmacy clerk.
• EPRN familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations and report illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Follow and reinforce food safety, sanitation, and safety regulations, guidelines, procedures, and programs; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Perform ordering functions with primary and secondary wholesalers.
• Follow company guidelines for computerized inventory management, control, and ordering of medications, devices, supplements, and supplies.
• Maintain departmental standards, including clean and organized workstations and customer waiting areas.
• Count, measure, and prepare specified products using company best practices.
• Complete billing procedures to provide appropriate value to the customer and company.
• Answer and triage phone calls and respond to inquiries as appropriate.
• Follow guidelines for vendor coupons, cash shortages, and company shrink controls.
• Operate the cash register and follow cashier handling policies for electronic fund transactions, cash, and check transactions.
• Provide a positive customer experience while accurately and efficiently completing reception, data entry, adjudication, and product dispensing.
• Assist the pharmacist with responsibilities except those requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgment.
• Follow HIPAA regulations and company policies regarding confidential information.
• Support company health and wellness initiatives.
• Put away legend orders, including Central Fill deliveries.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act honestly and with integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
