About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians help patients and customers by supporting the safe, prompt, and accurate filling of prescriptions while providing compassionate service. They work in a retail pharmacy environment that upholds professional and ethical standards and complies with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Technicians help meet medication needs and regulatory requirements, maintain patient confidentiality, and manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support the pharmacy team.

New Pharmacy Technicians must complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and meet the registration, licensing, and certification requirements established by their state Board of Pharmacy. Duties may initially be restricted until those requirements are satisfied. Technicians can continue to develop their clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training. The role may be subject to collective bargaining agreement rules in select markets. Depending on the role and location, COVID-19 vaccination may be required where allowable by law, subject to reasonable accommodation provisions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Meet state-specific pharmacy technician licensure requirements.
• Concentrate on tasks over time without being distracted.
• Demonstrate customer service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to customer reactions.
• Use verbal and written communication to interact with customers and colleagues, and listen actively.
• Apply mathematical reasoning, such as calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
• Recognize actual or potential problems and choose an appropriate course of action.
• Meet the physical demands of the role, including standing and moving for sustained periods, fine finger movements, reaching, bending, stooping, speaking and hearing, close visual acuity, and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• PTCB National Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support prompt, safe, and accurate prescription filling.
• Help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met.
• Provide caring service to patients and customers, responding appropriately to their needs.
• Maintain ethical conduct and patient confidentiality.
• Complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
• Develop clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge using available tools and training.
