About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians help patients and customers with their medication needs while supporting safe, accurate, and timely prescription fulfillment. They work in a retail pharmacy environment and maintain professional and ethical standards, comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and protect patient confidentiality. The role involves managing assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks, supporting the pharmacy team, and providing compassionate customer service. New Pharmacy Technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy’s training program and satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Duties may initially be restricted until those requirements are met. Technicians can continue to build clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training. In some markets, collective bargaining agreement rules may apply. Depending on role and location, COVID-19 vaccination may be required where permitted by law, subject to reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Meet licensure requirements applicable in the state of employment.
Ability to concentrate on tasks over time without being distracted.
Customer-service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to their reactions.
Verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and colleagues, including active listening.
Mathematical reasoning, such as calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing problems and selecting an appropriate course of action.
Ability to meet the physical demands described in the posting, including standing and moving about for sustained periods, fine finger work, reaching, bending, stooping, spoken communication, hearing, close visual acuity, and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
PTCB National Certification.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support the team in filling patient prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
Help meet patients’ medication needs while complying with regulatory requirements.
Provide caring service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Maintain ethical conduct and patient confidentiality.
Complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
Develop clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training.
