About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician works in the Retail Pharmacy at Saint Francis Hospital and follows prescribed procedures to help process physician prescriptions so medications are filled promptly, accurately, and safely. The technician prepares medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, assists with patient questions and service, and maintains records related to drug use and charges.

The role provides service to patients and customers in person and by telephone; uses the pharmacy computer system to input, retrieve, and analyze data; prepares and prioritizes prescriptions; handles cash and completes retail transactions; and tracks inventory and assists with daily ordering. This is a per-diem, part-time position with work as needed during operating hours on weekdays and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Connecticut registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
• National PTCB certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required within one year of the date of hire.

• Previous experience is strongly preferred.
