About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician will work as a Part B Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist, supporting major healthcare payer providers—including physicians and other healthcare providers—with inquiries about Medicare Part B drug coverage and prior authorizations. The role involves analyzing written, faxed, and verbal inquiries, which may lead to entering medical authorizations into an online, provider-facing web tool. The position is remote, but the employee may be required to come onsite in the event of computer, power, or internet issues.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
- Two to four years of specialty and/or retail pharmacy experience.
- Experience in a provider/member call center or helpdesk.
- Ability to communicate effectively with providers and members.
Nice To Haves
- Two years of college preferred.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) preferred.
- Knowledge of specialty prescription drug names, NDC drug codes, therapeutic classes, and claims processing.
- Prior authorization experience with Part B specialty medications.
- Knowledge of pricing NOC drugs.
- Familiarity with Medicare guidelines and timeframes.
- Knowledge of pharmacy and/or medical claims processing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
