Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
The Veterinary Medical Center within the College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Pharmacy Technician. This role involves assisting the Veterinary Pharmacist with prescription entry, obtaining medications, and managing Cubex stock. The technician will also prepare solutions, capsules, and compounds, receive and unpack pharmaceutical orders, restock shelves, and handle prescription mailings. Additional duties include answering pharmacy phones, filling departmental orders, managing outdated pharmaceuticals, updating computer records with new pharmaceuticals and prices, and processing prescription returns. The position is Monday-Friday with potential occasional Saturdays, and hours are to be determined.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Requires National certification as a pharmacy technician
- Requires registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

Responsibilities
- Assists the Veterinary Pharmacist entering new and refill prescription into the computer and assists in obtaining medications to fill orders
- Reviews daily Cubex stock reports and prepares and refills each station
- Prepares various solutions, capsules and compounds
- Receives and unpacks pharmaceutical orders and checks packing slips and invoices for shortages of delivery
- Orders fluids and unpacks order
- Restocks pharmacy shelves, including prescription pet food diets and fluids, and assists in reporting low stocks
- Packages prescription for mailings
- Answers the pharmacy phone and assists callers or refers callers to the pharmacist
- Fills departmental orders for pharmaceuticals
- Submits form for disposal of outdated non-controlled pharmaceuticals and biologicals
- Enters new pharmaceuticals into computer and updates prices in computer as needed
- Returns unclaimed prescriptions to stock and credits clients accounts
