Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians help patients access care and support the company’s retail pharmacy services. They work in a fast-paced pharmacy environment, helping fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring customer service. The role requires compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, ethical conduct, and protection of patient confidentiality. New Pharmacy Technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy Technician Training and meet registration, licensing, and certification requirements applicable under their State Board of Pharmacy guidelines. A manager may initially restrict duties until those requirements are met. Afterward, technicians can continue developing clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Meet licensure requirements applicable in the state of employment.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks over time without being distracted.
- Customer service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to their reactions.
- Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues, including active listening.
- Mathematical reasoning skills, such as calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
- Problem-recognition and resolution skills, including selecting an appropriate course of action in complex situations.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- PTCB National Certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support the team in filling patient prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met.
- Maintain ethical conduct and patient confidentiality.
- Complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
