About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians help patients and customers with their medication needs while supporting safe, prompt, and accurate prescription fulfillment. They work in a retail pharmacy environment under applicable professional and ethical standards and comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The role includes maintaining patient confidentiality and providing caring service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

New Pharmacy Technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy’s training program and satisfy state-specific registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Duties may initially be restricted by a manager until those requirements are met. Technicians may then continue developing their clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training. Licensure requirements vary by state. In some markets, collective bargaining agreement rules may apply.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Meet applicable state licensure requirements; requirements vary by state.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks over a period of time without distraction.
• Customer service orientation, including a friendly approach and awareness of customers’ reactions.
• Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues; active listening skills.
• Mathematical reasoning, including using math to calculate a prescription’s days’ supply.
• Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing problems and choosing an appropriate course of action.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing and moving about for sustained periods, fine finger movements, reaching, bending and stooping, communicating and hearing spoken information, and close visual acuity.
• Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs; exert up to 30 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• PTCB National Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support prompt, safe, and accurate prescription filling.
• Help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met.
• Provide caring service to patients and customers, responding appropriately to their needs.
• Maintain ethical conduct and patient confidentiality.
• Complete CVS Pharmacy’s technician training program and applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
• Develop clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge using available tools and training.
