St. Matthews Pharmacy offers access to all FDA-approved medications for substance use disorder through our full-service, high-touch pharmacies. We are seeking a talented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The Pharmacy Technician works under the direction of a pharmacist, assisting with data entry, packing and shipping of RX orders, coordinating care, and communication between pharmacies, patients, prescribers, payors, and other third parties. Candidates should be efficient, organized, have impeccable attention to detail, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment. This is a PRN, as needed, hourly, non-exempt position with varying hours, potentially including weekend rotations. Multiple locations are available in downtown and the south/west end of Louisville.

Requirements

  • MS Word, Teams, and Outlook experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency
  • Maintain focus and multitask in a busy environment.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
  • State Registered Pharmacy Technician+/- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Pharmacy can expedite registration for qualified applicant.
  • Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions.
  • Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and use of the internet, as well as word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
  • Active certification from the Kentucky board of pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician (or able to obtain).
  • License must be in good standing.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy filling systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Communicates effectively with customers, referring physician staff, and colleagues/employees of organization.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with people over the phone, sometimes in stressful situations.
  • Detail oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Basic data entry and/or word processing skills.
  • Ability to verify data input and correct errors.
  • Reads and accurately interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Conveys empathy and understanding when handling customer service issues.
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Computes rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy technician, accounting, database management experience preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience and/or training as a Registered Pharmacy Technician, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs data entry, including patient demographic, billing, medical history, and prescription information.
  • Provides excellent customer service as evidenced by a willingness and ability to assist customers with their questions/concerns, treating customers in a friendly and helpful manner, and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Answering phones and making outbound refill reminder calls.
  • Communicate with patients and providers to ensure timely management of prescription medication therapy.
  • Places outbound patient calls to periodically update patient health data in coordination with drug therapy.
  • Effectively triages customer's questions and needs to the appropriate staff member.
  • Addresses customer's basic questions regarding wait times and medication in-stock position.
  • Conducts customer outreach calls regarding compliance and routine matters in accordance with the patient management program.
  • Follows up with insurance companies in a timely manner regarding prior authorizations and billing.
  • Receive inventory and updates perpetual counts as per policy.
  • Receives and stores incoming supplies.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and projects.
  • Upholds patients' rights including privacy and confidentiality.
  • Follows cold storage management protocols.
  • Prepares and coordinates medications for shipment.
  • Greet and assists walk-in customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
