About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians support the pharmacy team in promptly, safely, and accurately filling patient prescriptions while providing compassionate service to patients and customers. They help ensure medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met, work in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, and maintain ethical conduct and patient confidentiality. The position is in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment and offers opportunities to develop clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge and build a pharmacy career. New technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy Technician Training and satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Duties may be restricted by the manager until those requirements are met. The role may be subject to collective bargaining agreement rules in select markets. Depending on role and location, COVID-19 vaccination may be required where legally permitted, subject to reasonable accommodation provisions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Meet licensure requirements, which vary by state.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks without being distracted.
• Customer-service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to customer reactions.
• Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues, including active listening.
• Mathematical reasoning, such as calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
• Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing problems and choosing an appropriate course of action.
• Ability to remain upright and move about on foot for sustained periods; perform fine-finger tasks; extend hands and arms; bend and stoop; communicate spoken instructions; and perceive sounds at normal speaking levels.
• Close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and inspecting small parts.
• Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds and exertion of up to 30 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• PTCB National Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support timely, safe, and accurate prescription filling.
• Provide caring service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
• Help ensure patients’ medication needs and pharmacy regulatory compliance standards are met.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
