About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians support the pharmacy team in promptly, safely, and accurately filling patient prescriptions while providing caring service to patients and customers. The role helps ensure medication needs are met and regulatory standards are followed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Technicians are expected to demonstrate ethical conduct and maintain patient confidentiality. The position suits people who can work in a fast-paced environment and provide compassionate, attentive customer care.

New Pharmacy Technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy’s training program and meet applicable state Board of Pharmacy registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Duties may initially be restricted by a manager until those requirements are met. Technicians can continue developing clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training. In select markets, collective bargaining agreement rules may apply.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Meet applicable state licensure requirements; requirements vary by state.
• Ability to concentrate on a task over time without being distracted.
• Customer service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to their reactions.
• Verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and colleagues, including active listening.
• Mathematical reasoning, such as calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
• Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing problems and selecting an appropriate course of action.
• Ability to meet the listed physical demands, including standing, walking, finger dexterity, reaching, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
• Close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and inspecting small parts.
• Ability to communicate and perceive detailed spoken information at normal speaking levels, with or without correction.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• PTCB National Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support the pharmacy team.
• Help promptly, safely, and accurately fill patient prescriptions.
• Provide caring service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
• Help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and satisfy applicable registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
