About The Position

The Retail Pharmacy Technician assists licensed pharmacists with the preparation and distribution of prescribed medications. They fill orders for patients and provide friendly, efficient, correct, and timely delivery of their prescriptions.

Requirements

  • Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others.
  • Computer skills, including MSOffice, Outlook, and Meditech, preferred.
  • Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations as well as exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Graduate of accredited Pharmacy Technician program, required.
  • Current National Pharmacy Technician certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment, required.
  • Current Kansas State Board of Pharmacy Technician License, required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years’ retail pharmacy experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a positive customer experience to patients, visitors, and associates presenting to the clinic pharmacy or on the phone.
  • Order, receive, and verify medication shipments, actively stock new inventory, and remove expired inventory from shelves.
  • Process prescriptions into the computer system accurately, screening for eligibility and clarifying any issues with the pharmacist and/or prescriber’s office to take care of the patient.
  • Obtain pharmacist’s approval for prepared doses.
  • Maintain pharmacy’s (and its patients’ employees’) safety by adhering to infection-control procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the pharmacist.
