About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians help patients access care, manage prescriptions and support better health outcomes. They work in a retail pharmacy environment, maintaining professional and ethical standards and complying with federal, state and local laws and regulations. Technicians help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory requirements are met, protect patient confidentiality, and provide caring service to patients and customers. The role involves managing assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks so the team can fill prescriptions promptly, safely and accurately while meeting customer expectations. New technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy Technician Training and satisfy the registration, licensing and certification requirements set by their state’s Board of Pharmacy. Duties may initially be restricted by a manager until these requirements are complete. Technicians can continue developing clinical, technical and insurance knowledge through available training and tools. Requirements and duties may be subject to collective bargaining agreement rules in select markets. Depending on role and location, COVID-19 vaccination may be required where permitted by law, subject to applicable accommodations.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Licensure requirements vary by state; applicable state registration, licensing and certification requirements must be satisfied.
Ability to concentrate on tasks over time without distraction.
Customer-service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to their reactions.
Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues; active listening skills.
Mathematical reasoning, such as calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing problems and selecting an appropriate course of action.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical or customer-service setting.
Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
PTCB National Certification.
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support prompt, safe and accurate prescription filling.
Help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met.
Provide caring service to patients and customers that meets or exceeds expectations.
Maintain ethical conduct and patient confidentiality.
Complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and satisfy applicable state registration, licensing and certification requirements.
Build clinical, technical and insurance knowledge using available tools and training.
