About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for performing the fundamental duties of pharmacy technician including and not limited to, prescription data entry, medication preparation and coordination with patients, providers and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of orders. This role supports the dispensing process by pulling, labeling, packaging and preparing medications for verification and shipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma from an accredited school or equivalent GED
  • CPT/ExCPT/LPT/PTCB/RPT, Pharmacy Technician, State Requirements - Pharmacy
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship
  • Must have pharmacy intern license as required by applicable state laws OR: Must have an active pharmacy technician licensure or registration in accordance with state requirements. If state does not require an exam for licensure/registration, must possess both active pharmacy technician licensure or registration in accordance with state requirements AND an active national certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT). In states that do not require licensure or registration, must have an active national certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT).
  • Proficiency in Pharmacy computerized systems and software applications, as well as MS Office Product Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify and trouble-shoot issues

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty or retail pharmacy industry experience, previous reimbursement experience, and/or working in a health plan/health care setting
  • Pharmacy technician experience in prescription entry, picking, labeling and preparing medication orders for pharmacist verification

Responsibilities

  • Under pharmacist supervision, processes new and refill prescriptions by verifying required elements, recognizing medication classifications, and performing data entry in the pharmacy system
  • Communicate with patients, physician offices, and insurance providers by phone or fax to ensure accurate prescription, prior authorization and order information
  • Review incoming faxed prescriptions, attach them to patient profiles and follow up with patients or physicians for missing information; answer incoming calls and triage pharmacy-related requests
  • Prepare, label, assemble, and package medications, supplies, and equipment, including creating pre-packaged supply items and preparing patient shipping containers and labels; Assist with maintaining accurate inventory through pulling expirations
  • Collaborate with customer service, billing, pharmacy, and shipping teams to move orders efficiently through the fulfillment process
  • Print, prepare, collate, and triage delivery tickets, and pick medications, supplies, and equipment according to delivery documentation
  • Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock and pulling expired medications or supplies
  • Maintain inventory of cold medications and ice products, including stocking shelves and transporting ice boxes.
