A caregiver in this role will work a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule, totaling 72 hours per working week. Shifts include five days from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and two days from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with every other weekend included in the rotation. Holidays are only worked if they fall during the scheduled week, and there are no on-call requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
  • Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) within 18 months from the date of hire
  • Must obtain Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 18 months from the date of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Six months of hospital experience
  • Prior inpatient experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
