The Pharmacy Technician role is a part-time position within an outpatient pharmacy, open Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM to 10 PM and Saturday/Sunday from 8 AM to 4 PM. This role is ideal for students, offering approximately 8-12 hours per week depending on applicant availability. The Pharmacy Technician assists licensed pharmacists with technical duties, including the preparation and distribution of medications, handling hazardous drugs and controlled substances, and managing inventory. Responsibilities also include screening phone calls, performing nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture where applicable, checking medication storage areas, and completing necessary documentation. The role may involve obtaining patient demographic information, third-party billing functions, and potentially performing immunizations under pharmacist supervision. Additionally, the position may require operating an Advocate Health-owned vehicle for medication delivery.
