About The Position

This position ensures the fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist in an automated central fill pharmacy. The role focuses on maintaining a continuous and consistent workflow to meet daily production and quality goals. Responsibilities include using scanners to select and verify pharmaceutical products, entering expiration dates and lot numbers, labeling prescriptions, weighing medication for accuracy, counting or pouring medication, and preparing packages for distribution in a fast-paced production environment. The role also involves replenishing automated counting machines and maintaining the quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory, including pharmaceuticals and supplies. This includes utilizing automated inventory control systems, ensuring timely delivery and stocking, adhering to inventory control procedures, auditing and testing pill cell performance, managing the pill cell information database, troubleshooting issues, identifying and discarding hazardous waste, and processing recalled and expired pharmaceuticals. Additionally, the position involves maintaining pharmacy systems and technology, such as inventory systems and automated medication counting machines, by preparing records and reports for accurate data and system compliance. This includes monitoring inventory levels and expiration dates, calibrating machines, applying settings to pill or capsule specifications, ensuring continuous replenishment of medications, and troubleshooting pill cell issues. The role also requires compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity, completing work assignments and priorities, collaborating with others, identifying improvement opportunities, and adapting to change. Requirements

Meets state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

Maintains and tracks medication inventory by sorting, placing, and storing freight in appropriate locations.
Restocks and replenishes medication in appropriate locations, reporting low stock levels.
Ensures stock rotation on a first-in, first-out basis to assist in shrinkage control.
Performs inventory cycle counts and assists with physical counts for inventories.
Creates reports using inventory information systems and monitors prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals.
Supports facility with reporting and paperwork to ensure productivity and pharmaceutical integrity by entering and modifying pharmaceutical data on system and forms.
Processes and submits paperwork, creating and maintaining documentation (e.g., files, manuals, forms, records, supplies, communications).
Identifies and resolves discrepancies in records or files.
Prepares reports of pharmacy activities and inventory (e.g., state board mandated testing of counting devices).
Informs management about incorrect or inefficient processes and improper service procedures.
Promotes and maintains the pharmacy's professional reputation and delivers pharmacy products and services to patients in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and corporate policies and procedures.
Assists the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process.
Stocks and rotates merchandise and supplies from distribution centers and suppliers.
Handles claims and returns.
Completes, maintains, and secures paperwork, forms, and other required documentation.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment.

Maintains quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory (e.g., pharmaceuticals, supplies) by utilizing automated inventory control scanner and system to track and ensure the timely and appropriate delivery and stocking of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
Ensures adherence to and documentation of inventory control procedures (e.g., product strategies, product description discrepancies, auditing and testing pill cell performance per prescribed schedule and procedures).
Manages pill cell information database.
Troubleshoots issues with pill cell performance.
Identifies and properly discards hazardous waste.
Processes recalled and expired pharmaceuticals and disposes or processes return of outdated stock for credit.
Maintains pharmacy systems and technology (e.g., inventory systems, automated medication counting machines) by preparing informational and related records and reports to ensure accurate data and system compliance with policies and regulations.
Monitors inventory levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals.
Calibrates machines.
Applies settings to pill or capsule specifications to minimize breakage.
Ensures medications are continuously replenished by utilizing the computer and scanner screen.
Troubleshoots pill cell issues (e.g., jamming) throughout production.
Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans.
