About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians support pharmacy operations and service excellence in retail locations. They help ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, assist patients and customers, and contribute to a caring, inclusive, and safe environment. Technicians follow company standard operating procedures, pharmacy workflow practices, applicable laws and professional standards, and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues. After hire, they must complete company training and meet applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements; duties may be restricted until those requirements are satisfied.

Depending on state law, training, and certification, Technicians may also support immunizations and other health services, including point-of-care testing and offsite clinics. The role requires schedule flexibility, including nights and weekends, and may involve working shifts at other stores in the market. This is a part-time position scheduled for 20 hours per week.

Requirements

• Comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including requirements related to age, education, and licensure or certification.
• If state pharmacy rules do not specify a minimum age, be at least 16 years old.
• If state pharmacy rules do not specify a minimum education level, have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program.
• Meet applicable state-level licensure and national certification requirements, which vary by state.
• Complete required company training within the designated timeframe.
• Have regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks, shift quickly between tasks, and verify prescription information and label accuracy.
• Ability to provide friendly assistance, recognize patient reactions, and respond appropriately.
• Ability to use verbal and written communication and active listening with patients and colleagues.
• Ability to use math to calculate quantities such as tablets, days’ supply, and bottles needed for a prescription.
• Ability to identify challenging interactions and select an appropriate resolution.
• Ability to remain upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items; reach and stoop; perform repetitive finger movements and precise machine adjustments; and perform close visual tasks.
• Occasionally lift or exert up to 20 pounds, frequently lift or exert up to 10 pounds, and consistently move objects using negligible force.
• Ability to convey detailed spoken instructions accurately and receive detailed information through oral communication.

Nice To Haves

• 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Ability to work in the home store and at other market locations to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Follow company standard operating procedures at pharmacy workstations to support pharmacists in managing and improving patient health.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations to fulfill prescriptions safely and accurately.
• Provide empathetic, personalized service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services where appropriate; and resolve or escalate patient concerns.
• Perform basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership, including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and waiting-bin inventories.
• Contribute to a high-performing team, receive feedback, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
• Remain flexible to scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other stores in the market for shifts when needed.
• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies and procedures, including requirements related to patient safety, controlled substances, recordkeeping, privacy, and security.
• Deliver additional patient health services, such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics, when allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.
• Where permitted, complete additional immunizer licensure and training requirements; educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist on duty; monitor and respond to adverse reactions and report events; review, collect, track, and document patient information; and monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, and complete required training within the designated timeframe.
• Use attention, communication, customer-service, mathematical reasoning, and problem-resolution skills to support accurate prescription fulfillment and patient care.
• Perform the physical activities required by the role, including standing or remaining upright for extended periods, lifting and handling items, reaching, repetitive finger movements, stooping, and close visual work.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by a supervisor or manager.
