About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician is an entry-level role focused on medication delivery and inventory management. The position has basic patient, provider, and customer service responsibilities, including communication and message retrieval. The role works in a clinical environment and is accountable for meeting job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies and procedures. The described duties are representative rather than all-inclusive; department-specific orientation competencies and skills may also be essential.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Obtain Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB or NHA) certification within two years.
• Be registered as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee, Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Intern with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
• Computer literacy.
• Knowledge of the healthcare regulatory environment.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical names.
• Teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient, provider, and customer care.
• Use the pharmacy computer system to facilitate patient care.
• Participate in patient, provider, and customer care activities that do not require a pharmacist's expertise.
• Prepare and label medications appropriately for distribution.
• Retrieve and review medications and supplies, and perform inventory management.
• Maintain pharmacy records.
• Perform pharmacy housekeeping in compliance with hospital and accreditation policies.
• Participate in onboarding and training new pharmacy personnel.
