Pharmacy Technician

CVS Health•Huntington Beach, CA

About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians support pharmacy operations and service excellence in retail locations. They are often the first point of contact for patients and customers and help the pharmacy team fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring service. Technicians follow standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflows, communicate effectively, and contribute to a safe, inclusive team culture. After starting, they must complete company training and meet the registration, licensing, and certification requirements of their state Board of Pharmacy. Duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager until those requirements are met. Technicians may provide additional patient health care services, such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics, where permitted by law and supported by required training and certification. Where permissible, a Technician Immunizer may complete additional training and licensure requirements to prepare and administer vaccines, educate patients, refer clinical questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty, monitor and report adverse reactions, document patient information, and manage vaccine supplies. The role requires regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, and flexibility to work at other stores in the market as business needs require.

  • Use mathematical reasoning for prescription-related calculations, such as tablet quantities, days’ supply, and bottle counts.
  • Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose an appropriate course of action.
  • Meet the physical demands of the role, including remaining upright for extended periods; lifting, scanning, and bagging items; reaching, stretching, repetitive finger movements, stooping, and handling items between low and high positions; maintaining close visual acuity; and occasionally lifting or exerting up to 20 pounds.
