The Pharmacy Technician will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements. Schedule: This position will work up to 4 hours per week every Tuesday and every other weekend. About the Facility: Summit Oaks Hospital, a private psychiatric and chemical dependency center has been serving the Northeast Region since 1902. The facility includes a 126-bed hospital and an outpatient counseling center that serves children, adolescents, and adults. Summit Oaks is licensed by the state of New Jersey and is fully accredited by the Joint Commission (JCAHO).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active applicable state Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
  • Recent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician, ideally in inpatient setting

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Prepare and compound medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards
  • Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations
