About The Position

The certified pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in providing medications and other healthcare products to patients. The pharmacy technician measures, mixes, counts out, labels, dispenses, and records dosages of medications, makes IVs, and receives and verifies prescriptions. The job involves purchasing, inventory, record keeping and use of databases and medical software. Pharm techs also deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients, nursing stations or surgery and maintain proper drug storage and security. A pharmacy technician needs good customer service skills and knowledge of both drug properties/interactions and preventative health-care measures. Accuracy and attention to detail on the part of a pharmacy technician could be a life-and-death matter.

Requirements

  • National certification as Pharmacy Technician and registration with Montana Board of Pharmacy as Certified Technician upon hire, required.
  • At least six months of active experience as a pharmacy technician or experience deemed as equivalent by the board.
  • Current Registration with Montana Board of Pharmacy as Certified Pharmacy Technician, required.
  • Knowledge of personal computers, hardware, basic software programs including word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to refer to policy manual for specific instructions/guidelines.
  • Follow established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to adhere to the standards of the job description.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility to adapt to a variety of workload assignments.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Criminal background check.
  • Drug Screening.
  • Health and Immunizations Screening.
