About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians help deliver compassionate care to patients and customers in a leading retail pharmacy environment. They support the pharmacy team in promptly, safely, and accurately filling prescriptions while providing caring service that exceeds customer expectations. The role requires compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, adherence to professional and ethical standards, and maintaining patient confidentiality. New Pharmacy Technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy Technician Training and meet applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements. A manager may initially restrict duties until these requirements are satisfied. Technicians may then develop their clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training. Duties and eligibility requirements may vary by location; collective bargaining agreement rules apply in select markets.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Meet licensure requirements applicable to the state.
Concentrate on tasks over time without distraction.
Demonstrate customer service orientation, including responding appropriately to customers’ reactions.
Use and understand verbal and written communication with customers and colleagues, including active listening.
Use mathematical reasoning, such as calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
Recognize problems and choose an appropriate course of action in complex situations.
Meet the physical demands of the role, including sustained standing and walking, finger dexterity, reaching, bending and stooping, and communicating and receiving spoken information.
Have close visual acuity for tasks such as reading, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and inspecting small parts.
Occasionally lift or exert force up to 30 lbs and frequently exert force up to 10 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
PTCB National Certification.
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support timely, safe, and accurate prescription filling.
Provide caring customer service to patients and customers.
Help ensure medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met.
Maintain ethical conduct and patient confidentiality.
Complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
