At CVS Health retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians support pharmacy teams in delivering operational and service excellence. They are often the first point of contact for patients and customers and help ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring service. Technicians follow standard operating procedures and best practices, communicate effectively, and help foster a safe, inclusive environment where patients and colleagues feel valued. After starting in the role, Technicians must complete the company training program and meet the registration, licensing, and certification requirements established by their state’s Board of Pharmacy. Duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager until those requirements are completed. Depending on state law and required training and certification, Technicians may also provide services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing. Where permitted, Technician Immunizers may prepare and administer vaccines after completing additional licensure and training requirements. The role requires regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, and the ability to complete required training within designated timeframes. Technicians must be able to focus on tasks, switch between tasks, verify prescription information and label accuracy, assist patients, communicate with patients and colleagues, use math for prescription quantities and supplies, and resolve challenging interactions. Physical demands include remaining upright for extended periods, mobility, lifting and handling items, reaching, repetitive finger movements, precision control, stooping, and close visual acuity. The position is full-time, with 40 anticipated weekly hours. The typical pay range is $16.50–$25.00 per hour; offers depend on factors including experience, education, and geography.
