About The Position

Working with the Pharmacy Supervisor, resolves problems related to customer prescription inquiries and implements inventory control procedures. The Pharmacy Technician will be the main point of contact for interactions with the pharmacy and will be responsible for carrying out the day to day operations of the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacy Supervisor and other clinical team members with clinical programs as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with interdisciplinary team members, pharmacy patients, families, and providers
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to organize complex information and make independent decisions
  • Maintain all required certifications/training by State regulations
  • Possess strong computer skills and efficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other applications
  • Ability to efficiently and competently navigate electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medication administration records (eMAR)
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Computer, email, fax and scan knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years’ experience working in Long Term Care, retail, or hospital outpatient pharmacy preferred
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Data entry of patient/facility information and prescription orders
  • Customer service (i.e., receiving and processing order requests)
  • Daily fill including controlled substances
  • Prescription fulfillment (i.e., various packaging, ATP2, blister packaging, vials)
  • Staging items for delivery or shipment
  • Resolve billing issues
  • Assist Pharmacist with management of appropriate inventory levels
  • Respond to telephone inquiries, referring to appropriate staff as needed
  • Complete special projects as assigned by supervisor
  • May maintain records related to the use of pharmaceuticals and quality assurance activities as directed
  • May maintain relationships with nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals regarding medication problems for individual patients
  • May participate in the development of and coordinate orientation and training programs for other pharmacy technicians
  • Demonstrate cultural competence by being respectful of and responsive to health beliefs, practices, cultural and language needs of the member and his/her support system
  • Comply with all local, State, and Federal laws with regards to protected health information (PHI), including HIPAA
  • Ensure pharmacy policies and procedures are followed
  • Perform all other duties relevant to the position as assigned by supervisor.
