About The Position

In collaboration with the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of clerical, pharmaceutical, and other general duties in the Pharmacy and other areas. Functions include sterile and non-sterile preparations, unit dose pre-packaging and drug distribution, narcotic issue, purchasing and receiving supplies, dispensing first dose unit doses, bin filling unit doses, refilling of automated dispensing cabinets, and extemporaneous preparations. Travel to offsite units, known as the RCU, to provide Omnicell refill and patient-specific doses.

Requirements

  • Licensed by OCP.
  • Education obtained from an accredited Pharmacy technician program (CCAPP accredited = Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Solid knowledge of pharmaceutical arithmetic and terminology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and assessment abilities.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and supporting a collaborative work culture.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sterile and non-sterile preparations.
  • Conduct unit dose pre-packaging and drug distribution.

  • Handle purchasing and receiving of supplies.
  • Dispense first dose unit doses.
  • Fill unit doses in bins.
  • Refill automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Perform extemporaneous preparations.
  • Travel to offsite units (RCU) to provide Omnicell refill and patient-specific doses.
