About The Position

CPS, part of the Optum family of businesses, is dedicated to crafting and delivering innovative hospital and pharmacy solutions for better patient outcomes across the entire continuum of care. As a per diem nonexempt CPS Solutions, LLC Pharmacy Technician, you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; and billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements. This position will work as needed and 1 weekend a month, covering full-time Pharmacy Technician PTO or time off as needed. The Pharmacy is open Monday through Sunday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. HCS is the pharmacy order entry system and Omnicell is the automated dispensing cabinets utilized in the pharmacy. The facility, Holly Hill Hospital-Main campus, is a 168-bed, Joint Commission accredited behavioral health hospital located in Raleigh, North Carolina, providing inpatient services for adults and seniors facing mental health and addiction challenges.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current North Carolina Pharmacy Technician Licensure/Registration
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Proven effective communications skills; verbal and written

  • Certification in good standing
  • Recent experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Prepare and compound medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards
  • Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations
